Why choose the ERO?
Welcome, and thank you so very much for your interest in the Entrepreneurial Recipe Online (ERO). The ERO is an interactive online financial literacy platform founded to help create and guide young entrepreneurs along their journey. The course is the culmination of years of experience and built upon the feedback of students, teachers, and professors. As the parent/guardian of a young entrepreneur in training there’s a few things we’re going to breakdown for you here:
- Why should I choose the ERO?
- What’s the role of the “Instructor”?
- What are the requirements to pass?
- How can I help my child succeed?

Why choose the ERO?
Students select your business idea that you will develop during our classes. Consider a part time business venture that you are currently doing (lawn mowing, etc.) or a hypothetical start up business that you will want to pursue. You have the flexibility to choose a service business or a product (widget). The purpose of the online instruction will guide the student through decision making processes. A student’s creative concept will offer him an opportunity to dream BIG. Get started! The instructor’s role is to nurture each student in their brainstorming pursuit. I will serve as a facilitator rather than a boring classroom teacher. Have FUN. Minimal online teaching will be scheduled. Students are accountable to a mentor/parent. No submission sent to me. All workbook assignments including reading, written and business plan documents are forwarded to your leader for evaluations and assigned grading.
Students begin your journey by writing a brief statement explaining your business concept in the www.SCORE.org template Executive Summary on page 7. I understand it’s the student’s first attempt to conceptualize your vision, but get started.

What’s the role of the “Instructor”?
Notes to Parents:
Parents/mentors must be very observant in the online pilot class instructions. A child’s performance needs to be monitored.
Parent/mentor must articulate assignments preparing student’s homework
-Control electronics that is non-essential to learning
-I request parents to observe student’s study time. Please make written notes for tracking the child’s performance as the student completes each assignment. I believe this will be helpful as parents assign semester credits toward graduation. Parents/mentors taking notes will be invaluable in subsequent online classes.
-Will need parent’s participation in the grading system. Instruction is mastery-based learning. I suggest 70% pass/fail criteria. Parents will formulate a grading system. If a student lacks understanding (failed module concepts). I highly recommend repeating the module before advancing to the next module. Remember, the curriculum is mastery-based! Together, we are field testing resources to benefit the end-user: Our Students. All of your submitted recommendations to me will be invaluable in subsequent classes.
